Most of my buyers arrive with the beaches in mind and are surprised by the core. The neighbourhoods ringing downtown — Riverside, Avondale, Springfield, San Marco — carry the city's independent retail and its best small kitchens, and they are where a walkable street in Jacksonville actually exists.
This page is deliberately centred on that core rather than on the tourist map. The distances shown are straight-line from a downtown point, so treat them as proximity rather than a route — the river bends a lot and the bridges decide your drive.
